Go Diamond Dave!

Many people who know me know my love of the Howard Stern show on Sirius Satellite Radio. What you may or may not know is that the former company Stern worked for (CBS) is suing him for basically promoting his Sirius move while on terrestrial radio for the last 15 months of his contract.
As a replacement for Stern, CBS brought in David Lee Roth to put on a new morning show. Unfortunately for Roth, CBS has been trying to mold his show into a Howard Stern clone, much to the dismay of Roth. Now, I’ve gotta be honest, I was never a Diamond Dave fan, and always preferred Sammy Hagar as the front man of Van Halen. After reading this comment from Roth, I have some new found respect for the man.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring in a gal to read the weather or read the traffic,” Roth suggested. “If I didn’t know any better I would say they are trying to sabotage the deal, but I know they fully support and love me.” He later added, “[CBS Radio CEO/President] Joel Hollander did tell me I needed to be flexible, but I didn’t know he meant I would need a lubricant.”

Getting rid of Diamond Dave was a good move for VanHalen. When Dave was there, the band was more of a joke song band…with songs like Just a Giggalo, Ice Cream Man and a bunch of covers. They seemed to get serious when Sammy joined the group.
It’s good to see that David Lee Roth is still alive and kicking though.

I agree. VH was a much better band with Sammy as frontman. I’m still holding out hope that VH will reform with him, although, I think Roth has more chance of re-uniting with the band.
